Tofutti sour cream is probably my favourite dairy replacement of all time – that I can get in this country,
that is. I’ve fed it to omnivore family members and they haven’t batted an eyelid. Unlike its dairy counterpart,
it lasts for ages in the fridge, even when opened. It works well on its own as a direct replacement for sour
cream on top of burittos, tacos and chilli, but it’s also an amazing base for dips and sauces. You can cook with
it too, stirred into risottos and made into creamy pasta sauces. It’s just fantastic in mashed potatoes and I’d never consider eating pierogi without it. Talking of pierogi, it goes well with lots of dishes that come from Russia, such as
nestled into a bowl of Borshch (beetroot soup) or Shchi (cabbage soup).
I can take or leave most dairy replacements but I couldn’t be without a tub of this in my fridge!
I bought a tub of this in the Holland & Barrett buy 1 get 1 1/2 price sale & I haven’t used it yet – thanks for all the ideas.
I hear ya. I’d have a hard time staying vegan without it.
I didn’t know it kept for ages! In fact, I never bought it before (although I have had it and it tastes exactly like diary sour cream) because I thought I’d never use it before it went off! Yeah – best mofo tip of the day!

I love it too. I just tried the Wayfare sour cream and didn’t like it quite as much on its own. It was decent on a potato. Tofutti gets my vote for sour cream for now, though!
I like the look of yours better than the ones over here. Your packaging is far more appealing.
