I wouldn’t choose to be away from home on a midweek working night, but there are so many good vegan options in London that I didn’t mind. I headed to Mildred’s in Soho and had the Mixed Mushroom, Porcini and Ale Pie with Mushy Peas and Fries. The fries were more like potato wedges and were lovely and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The service was a bit off hand but the food seemed suitably pre-match and it was very tasty indeed.
Football notes: Everton won 1-3. Man of the Match – I feel it’s going to be Arteta an awful lot this season, so I’ll give it to Osman.
Verdict: Lucky Mildred’s. We are top of the league, say we are top of the league!
It’s not always so easy to get vegan food near away grounds. If you live near any premiership grounds and know about good places, please let me know. Required fairly soon: Bolton.
It used to be OK because as long as there was a Wetherspoons nearby the veggie burger and chips was always vegan. This has saved me from death by starvation at Middlesbrough and Southampton, and probably many other places. A few months ago, completely unannounced, Wetherspoons started adding cheese to their veggie burger. Politely request that they revert back to a vegan burger here.
